The day has finally arrived. Tehondi has dropped his long awaited Sophomore album “Hiatus Days Over”

Below Tehondi talks about the personal journey of the album in length:

Hiatus Days Over was a spur of the moment project similar to Become The Savior. It originally began as an EP meant to only stall time for, at the time, the beyond delayed Truth Ain’t Dead album (which also started as an EP). Quickly, it blossomed dangerously into something so much more in the most beautiful yet toughest way.

I had thought HDO would be easy to complete since I had more experience and better resources. Sadly, just like with TAD, the HDO album was becoming delayed; mainly due to a mixture of people slacking off while I’m away and me being out of state for school in the 1st place. I drove back & fourth from Mississippi to Chicago every chance I got to work on the album. I was forced to become more efficient with my time as I would only have a few days at a time to work on the album. I spent tons of night shifts at J’s studio and sometimes stayed there 24 hours. I learned to record myself, apply vocal effects, mix etc. Delay after delay I had to redo all my release plans which made many people not take me serious... there were many times where I doubted myself. Still, I pushed through no matter how burned out I got. Even with all the hard work, stress gained, money loss, health loss, tears dropped, and spirit energy I put into every second of the day getting the album done, I still failed to put the album out before I graduated.

While it hurt in the moment, I’m so happy things turned out that way as it allowed the album to go through multiple evolutions and transform into something epic. Over the course of time I added new songs and became a stronger individual. When I returned home from college, in one month I had my own place. The next 2 months I restructured my music resources, gathered funds and ultimately got the entire album remixed and mastered. I then quit my job and dedicated September to releasing the album. This album, one that was never supposed to exist, blossomed into something so beautiful I can now never picture life without it. Hiatus Days Over solidifies me as an artist and shows my ambition in its rawest complete form. Truth Ain’t Dead will be a masterpiece. Become The Savior is forever the core. I will manifest all my dreams.

There is so much more to be said about this album, but i'll leave that to people in the future to fill in :)

Call You Later Cover Art 1500.jpg

Chicago, Illinois - September 28th 2018, the rising independent hip hop artist Tehondi will release his highly anticipated sophomore studio effort ‘Hiatus Days Over.’ Leading up to the album’s eventual release, the artist 2 explosive singles Tehondi-san and 95. 3rd to bat is Call You Later; a song with soothing mellow vibes that will have any listener singing along. It is released with Tehondi’s 1st ever music video shot by TYJDAVIS.

Tehondi’s ‘Call You Later’ is the perfect theme song for the highly ambitious, yet so calm and smooth that it can be sung by anyone in any situation. The song discusses Tehondi’s infatuation with accomplishing his goals and dreams and how his obsession has gotten to the point where he is unwilling to socialize about anything that doesn’t correlate with it. While he hangs up on everyone calling his phone, the only thing that is able to distract him from his work space... is a woman calling to show him some love. Human nature at its finest. Call You Later is the song you play during your late night drives reflecting on life and is the smash hit 2018 has been waiting for. Coming from Chicago IL where trap music runs rampant, this smooth, mellow track takes the hip hop scene in a greater direction. This song is extremely relatable and you could even call it the independent musician’s anthem.

Chicago Rapper Tehondi Quits His Job & Releases Fire New Single that’ll make you quit your slave job too: ‘95’

Chicago, Illinois - September 28th 2018, the rising independent hip hop artist Tehondi will release his highly anticipated sophomore studio effort ‘Hiatus Days Over.’ Leading up to the album’s eventual release, the artist 1st debuted ‘Tehondi-san;’ an explosive track themed around accomplishing your dreams by any means necessary. Now, shortly after, Tehondi has dropped his second single 95: the new ‘Fuck a slave job’ anthem.

The story behind the creation of 95 is as crazy & epic as the song itself. “What really set this song off in my mind is the conversation I had with a friend when he told me I shouldn’t sell my music. He was like I’m not at that level yet. “Well how am I gonna afford to make music?” He then tells me to just work a regular job to keep afloat and that I’m getting too ahead of myself. “Just work a job for a few years and save up. Everybody has to pay their dues and so do you.” That pissed me off so much man... I’m not paying no dues to be able do what I love. I’m not letting no one stop me.” ‘95’ is quickly becoming the “Fuck a Slave Job” anthem of 2018 with its super catchy hook. “I was born in 95 but I’m... but I’m screaming man fuck a 95! Fuck a slave job I’d rather hit the game and fucking grind! You ain’t doing what you love then you only wasting time.” Every bar said you can feel the annoyance Tehondi feels rapping about this topic. In just one verse, Tehondi is able to explain his hate for slave jobs, why they aren’t worth it, and how he’s planning on building his wealth. “Opportunities I snatch them bitches up like lose squares // Tryna get my net worth looking like Jay Z and Blue yea” He name drops multiple high level artist he plans to match in wealth like XXXTentacion, J Cole & Logic.

Tehondi actually lives his raps for real. A week prior to dropping 95, Tehondi quit his 9 to 5 job to focus on releasing the Hiatus Days Over album. “There is a major difference between a 9 to 5 and a real job. If I ever work a job it’s going to be something I love doing & it has to be able to provide all the money I need to chase my dreams. My last job was $13 an hour. I’m not accepting anything less 50K up moving forward!” Being an Honors graduate from Jackson State University who has managed to build up his whole career on his own, that should not be a problem for him. Tehondi advises people to live their dreams NOW and think outside the box on how to do it.

Tehondi Releases Signature New Single ‘Tehondi-San’ Off His Upcoming Album

Chicago, Illinois - September 28th 2018, the rising independent hip hop artist Tehondi will release his highly anticipated sophomore studio effort ‘Hiatus Days Over.’ Leading up to the album’s eventual release, the artist has debuted his brand new single, ‘Tehondi-san;’ an explosive track that has dropped with an accompanying animated cover art.

‘Tehondi-San’ is the perfect theme song for the highly ambitious. “To be able to define everything about yourself to the world in just one song; that was the mission I set out with when making “Tehondi-san”. We tend to show our best features publicly and hide what we feel people will judge us badly for. I wanted to break that mold. ‘Tehondi-San’ is Tehondi, unapologetically being Tehondi; someone who is determined to accomplish all his goals and dreams no matter what he has to go through to do it. Many people would consider my extreme “do or die” way of thinking insane, yet at the same time effective. I express my philosophy on this track with no hesitation. “If I can’t live up to my dreams than I’m better off be dead // if I quit that’s a pistol to my head. Brains out-”. You can hear the seriousness in every word I say, but strangely enough, there is clearly nothing for me or listeners of the song to fear. The words clearly aren’t being said for shock value or for gimmick. This is really how Tehondi thinks and operates. He isn’t suicidal, he’s just THAT determined. As a listener, you can really get a sense that this is a man who will obtain everything he is seeking.”

Here are some personal artist notes written at the time of release:

To be able to define everything about yourself to the world in just one song; that was the mission I set out with when making “Tehondi-san”. Tehondi-san is Tehondi, unapologetically being Tehondi; someone who is determined to accomplish all his goals and dreams no matter what he has to go through to do it.

What attracted me to this beat (by Abstrakt) the most was the flutes playing throughout it as they gave off a Japanese vibe. It allowed me to tap into my love for Japanese culture as I name drop underrated anime characters like “Gon Freecss” and labeled myself as “san” in the title. This is the 1st full length track off my upcoming album “Hiatus Days Over” and I hold back nothing here introducing myself. The Piano melody gave off such a “tough road ahead” feeling to me that I searched forever to find the right person to sing the intro with me. From the song start I wanted to throw listeners into this crazy life journey I’m walking and more importantly, show them how driven I am to complete it.

I drew inspiration for the lyrics through the smooth yet aggressive nature of the track. I come into the track calmly then bring the energy instantly. It really displays the hectic nature of my life as I face many obstacles I’m forced to destroy. I personally added all the explosions, earth shakes, and other sound effects to the song because my lyrics felt “earth shattering” to me. Many people would consider my extreme “do or die” way of thinking insane, yet at the same time effective. I express my philosophy on this track with no hesitation. “If I can’t live up to my dreams than I’m better off be dead // if I quit that’s a pistol to my head. Brains out-“. Album Description:

Began as a kid questioning society. Hear the 9 year journey infused in this album and his positive messages. The Unlock Your Mind artist creates something unheard. "You can't just sit around and wait for a hero. Eventually you will have to rise up and..."

Here are some personal journey notes written at the time of release (via CDbaby):

Become The Savior tackles a lot of hard challenges many artist will not take. To be able to make positive music, but still keep a dope vibe to it. To not say the N-word. To make people have to think outside of what they already know. And even harder... to not be afraid to speak your mind; refusing to sugar code anything you say. This album is not meant to be mainstream but to provide a powerful message that can help people empower themselves. We are force-fed all this negativity and do not realize how easy it is to be obtain a sense of peace and unity. There is a perfect symmetry of understanding reality and creating ideals in this album. Become The Savior displays everything my mind has gone through since stemming away from society at the age of 10 and the pain that came with it from my South-side Chicago environment. Age 19 now, this was a 9 year process of mind development to build the mindset i have today. On a funnier note, I was only able to start processing the album 5 days before its release (Not by choice trust me.) I'm extremely thankful that it was still able to be released on time and on top of that making it to iTunes as well. If you were to ask me how will listeners react to my album i would have no answer. That is because this album’s style is something unheard to many and I can't compare it to anything else they've heard. Only thing i do know is... that they will hear something powerful enough to make them think. This album is only possible because of one thing. I ask listeners to implement this in their life as well. To turn all the negativity and pain life has to throw at you into something positive and beautiful. You have the power to bring change. You can become the savior this world needs. Once we unite together… this world will become a happier place to be. Support something positive as I will be doing more of it! - Tehondi
